Devlog 02: Research 2.0 and Prototype 1.0


This week the team has been diving deeper into the design phase of our project.  As well as completing our tech document, game design and art bible and beginning the sound bible, we have been prototyping gameplay, map designs and graphical assets to further understand our needs once we start development.  In addition to this, we have begun splitting our design model into tasks and producing a plan with well laid out timescales to support a smooth development process.  


Development:

This week Sintija and Leon have been working on creating a prototype of our game with it's core mechanics; 4 players with movement, dashing and scrap pick up and deposit into furnace.  With this we have our first playable iteration of the level and can continue to refine and improve the gameplay. 

Art and sound:

Tamy and Jasper have completed our art bible, laying the foundation for the visual art in our game.  Tamy has created the first block outs of variants of the level with lighting as well as creating the robot model for the player characters and drafting various UI layouts and color schemes.  Additionally, work has begun on the particles for the interactions in the game, with the stun effect completed and ready for tweaking. 

Jake has been completing the sound elements of the design model as well as starting our sound bible to lay out the direction of the audio assets in the game.  


 Whats next?

We are all looking forward to wrapping up our initial design process and taking our first steps in realizing our project.  In the coming weeks we will be beginning our development process to create our full game from the ground up.
