Devlog 07: Sprint 2.1

Sprinting to the finish line!

Only three week left! This week we have some exciting new updates.

This week Sintija worked on a couple of different features. She is implementing controller support for the main menu which turned out to be a longer process than anticipated. The most important thing added to the project programming-wise was that teammates can now pass each other the scrap if they are near each other without dropping it to the ground, so the enemies can't pick it up. Sintija also worked on some visuals, doors now light up when up but are grey when down. Similarly buttons now go dark when not ready to be pressed.

This week Leon implemented a spawning system in which the player spawns under the map in a spawning elevator. When spawned the player rises to the surface. A hatch then opens and closes so they can access the map.  Furthermore, he implemented a death particle and door switch particle.

Jasper finished and textured some of his models that were made last week. He also made multiple animations for the players movement. An idle, scrap pick-up and throw animations with each multiple variation.

This week Tamy started with the walking and dashing animations. The dashing animation has 2 variations.

She is now starting with the implementation of the animations and the rig in Unreal with help of an animation blueprints. This will be finished next week together with the menu widgets.

This week Jake has been working on finishing the ambient and the music for gameplay as well as creating the sound effect for player vs player elimination.  Aside from the creative side he has been working on sound related bug fixes in preparation for this sprint’s implementation. With that almost complete, he will be moving on to the last few sound effects for gameplay as well as some UI sounds for the menu, as well as implementing everything into the engine.

Next week is the final week for new features. This is what we will add: a new level, a dash energy meter, some particles and extra animation. See you next week!
